The OKC climate (UV, heat, hail) is harder on TPO than milder coastal climates, so we recommend 80-mil for buildings where the owner plans to keep the asset 15+ years.

Can TPO be installed over an existing roof?

Sometimes — over a structurally sound, dry existing roof with no more than one layer, you can install TPO as an overlay (called a recover). It saves the tear-off cost and reduces installation downtime. The trade-off: any moisture trapped under the new TPO accelerates failure. We core-sample before recommending a recover, and we recommend tear-off about half the time even when recover is technically possible.

Will TPO change how my building looks from the ground?
